Instrumental Music

Instrumental Music

St. Paul Westlake students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of instrumental music activities through our curricular offerings, our recognized Seminar program, and also in after school groups.  Our students are encouraged to use their gifts and abilities through instrumental music performance in public performances, chapels and small ensemble opportunities.

Our band program is taught by Mr. Greg Banaszak, band director and saxophone virtuoso.  Our three levels, Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, and Advanced Band, provide our students the opportunity to be taught in a class level appropriate for their needs.  All bands are taught during school and include group lessons as well as ensemble practice. Students have the opportunity to perform in a variety of events including chapel, Christmas in the Atrium, Lutheran West city wide events, St. Paul School music programs, and the end of year Instrumental Concert.

Guitar Club

Through our Guitar Club, students have the opportunity to learn guitar and perform in a variety of environments, including chapel, church services, and city wide recitals.

Our guitar instructor, Mrs. Konyk (dkonyk@stpaulwestlake.org), has has been a member of Lakewood Guitar Consort, The Lutheran Wind Ensemble, the Cleveland Classical Guitar Orchestra, and has attended the Classical Guitar Workshop at the University of Cincinnati.

6-8th Grade students have the opportunity to participate in a Handbells ensemble through our Seminar Program.  Mrs. Ragland (rragland@stpaulwestlake.org) has many years of experience conducting and leading such groups.
